It’s the beginning of a long, hot summer. Vincent and his cousin Ethan have been sent to spend it with their paternal grandfather and uncle in Mobile, Alabama, in an old colonial called “Finscher’s Treasure.” Vincent hates Alabama. He was forced to go with the threat of being disinherited by his parents as they undergo a divorce. Vincent and Ethan rediscover each other and farm life. Having spent many summer’s here Ethan is more familiar with his family. Vincent is not and has no desire to be. He finds himself amidst his grandfather’s strange new obsession with clocks. Nothing keeps his attention long until he is smitten with the beautiful Mable, a sixteen-year-old Cherokee girl. Vincent, on his quest to forget his past, comes face to face with it. Will he and Ethan be able not to allow past family secrets to become their future?
