Jean arrives on the loading dock of the theater as the Broadway musical is about to load in at its second stop in the national tour. She has just been hired as a replacement for the sound person position—a position traditionally held by a man. She introduces herself to the head carpenter, the boss, Tom Reynolds. He explodes upon finding that the newest member of the crew is a woman. Now Tom has to deal with a modern-day woman, something for which he is ill-prepared.There begins the conflicts between these two talented people. What starts as conflict and turns into chemistry and romance all happens within the arms of musical theater as the reader follows the fast-paced action and teamwork backstage and the show is brought to life for an audience.
