My book is a memoir of Russian Jews who emigrated in 1900. It is composed of short stories about my father Ed and his brother Willy. They grew up in Brooklyn in a musical and artistic family whose spirits were lifted by their talent and love. It chronicles their lives from childhood to the death of my father. Their voices are heard as well as my own observations of growing up in this family. The book’s characters could enter the hearts of anyone. It brings the reader back to one’s own roots. The book portrays a family of fine character and good values. The writing is descriptive and detailed in a way that makes the reader feel that he or she is there. Upon completing the book, one is left with a good feeling that life is worth living. I have been there and I know. Once I was a talented painter and dancer. When I became bed bound due to multiple sclerosis, I channeled my creativity into writing. The book is about my two mentors, Willy and Ed. They gave me the strength to write this book. In sharing this, I can show others how to recapture their own magical moments.
