This is the story of an upper-middle-class family who achieved the American Dream of the 1950s: stability and a comfortable existence. Meal times are a showcase of their achievements and success, and allow their two doting children, a girl and a younger boy, to bask in their reflected glow.

But all is not as it seems.

The authoritarian parents are unable to relate to their subservient children, who grow up to harbor deep grievances lying just beneath the glittering surface of this proper, upscale world. This is a dysfunctional family, where roleplaying keeps the junior members in a position of resenting supplication.

Loyal Beyond All Else is a game of cat and mouse, of schizoid compartmentalizing, acting out rigid hierarchical roles based on unhealthy co-dependency and falsehoods, a psychological struggle of mind and a thirty-year battle for dominance in a suburban home.
