Justin Hornsby, an engineering student, angers a wizard and is exiled to an alternate Earth, where magic, not science and technology, is operative. He is sent to see the Oracle, who tells him that he must become a master wizard in order to return to his home world. During his travels, he and his guide, Vantrel, become close friends, and they often find themselves fighting for their lives, both against evil men and evil creatures. Following the Oracle’s instructions, he and Vantrel must make a hazardous journey into the heart of Dismal Swamp, an evil place filled with evil creatures created by a sorcerer over 500 years earlier. In the sorcerer’s keep, they search for and find a key which has the magical property of allowing its user to absorb the entire contents of any book! They also encounter a major demon trapped in a pentagram.
