Mary-Ellen Hurley (a.k.a. sportsman’s widow) is a freelance writer with a number of published short stories. She started writing short stories for entertainment ten years ago for a private newsletter. Her writings are a compilation of short stories of life’s challenging experiences in an amusing and enlightening day-to-day “sporting” fashion.

The Sportsman’s Widow is “the representative voice” for all the women who live with a sports enthusiast. Even though her interests lie in a much different direction, she loves and copes with her sportsman’s enthusiasm, understanding that you need to accept what you cannot change, and best yet, she does it comically and gives the rest of us widows a good laugh.

She lives in New Hampshire with her sportsman husband and sports-daughter. A sixteen-year-old, thirty-pound tomcat named Wishbone accompanies them and is the king of their castle.
