There is a tormented soul that believes the Bible reads that sinners must die. Too many young people in Little Birch, West Virginia, do evil things out of wedlock. The killer also becomes deeply entangled with an already troubled family. They are five orphan siblings trying to keep their faith in the face of adversity. They look to their wise great-grandmother, “Mom-Maw,” for guidance while, their grandmother, “Belle,” is abusive and drives the children away. Maggie wants to pursue her dreams far away from the mountains. Her brother, Matthew, struggles to save the town from the serial killer. Kat, the oldest, looks desperately for love. Adam is ornery and terribly misguided. Mary, the youngest, must deal with an addiction. These kids learn the hard way that straying away from their religious upbringing breaks their spirit and brings them a lot of trouble. They also learn that people aren’t always as they may seem.
