When multi-millionaire Jonathan Evans is kidnapped and held for ransom, Ipswich’s newly appointed police chief James Cooper is given 72 hours to find him. As his list of possible suspects grows, Laurel Gibson quickly becomes Cooper’s main lead. Even with her believable alibis and willingness to help, he can’t trust the strange young woman. She is too much of a contradiction! On one side is her beliefs in dowsing, herbal healing and psychic abilities, yet the other side shows her to be an intelligent, shrewd, business-minded student in need of money. While Cooper can relate to the one side, he scoffs at the other until he realizes that Laurel Gibson is the only one that can save Jonathan Evans. In the end, Jim Cooper becomes a part of the small town he works for, accepting the fact that there’s more to life than what he had originally believed in.
