A rancher in northern Nevada is visited by representatives of the U.S. Wildlife Service. They inform Paul Holbrook, the rancher, that they have been informed that there is possibly an endangered species of freshwater miniature shrimp in the creeks on his land. If so, it means that the creeks must be fenced off. This is the water source for all the cattle on the ranch. Paul knows of the consequences when an endangered species are found. Basically, that he is out of the cattle business. Several inspectors will return in a few days to start looking for any and all endangered species. He decides not to roll over for the government. The end result is that he takes on the government. The consequences are not what the bureaucrats had counted on. Paul Holbrook is 67 years old, a veteran of WWII and Korea, and is not someone to be taken lightly.…
