Kaushik has been writing for different magazines and newspapers since he could write. The idea to write this book was born when he heard the story of the woman who used to work at his teacher’s place. When she was a kid, her parents left her at the teacher’s place to work as a maidservant. That girl became a part of the family. One night, without informing anyone, she eloped with one of the workers who used to work in his house.

Years later, the teacher saw her as his train passed through a dirty slum beside the railway tracks. She was sitting in front of a broken-down house. She covered her face and ran way on seeing him. She looked very old and weak and was in tattered clothes.
