Product Description
One of the greatest influences in Robert Ausbury’s life was five very formative years from the ages of nine through fourteen as a live-in chorister at St. John the Devine. It gave him an intense musical experience--from the singing of hymns to the writing of verse.
The settings of Mr. Ausbury’s poems include his experiences hitchhiking across the United States, and working on ranches, in forests and on farms. They also include life with his three children.
As a New York City teacher, he taught court-assigned boys cooking and baking for eleven years. Following that experience he opened Woodstove’s Restaurant in Sherman, Connecticut, and owned and operated it for fourteen years. These settings also appear in his poetry.
Mr. Ausbury continues to write verse and meets weekly with a small group of musician friends called “The Boys in the Bach.” His book is a collection of 63 years worth of writing.
