DeeDee Logan is a true Gemini: a confident and reassuring advice columnist at school, but a lonely eighth grader with problems of her own at home. Corresponding with other students in need, DeeDee is able to ponder her own relationship with her father—one that is dominated by her stepmother’s mistrust and insecurity. DeeDee, frustrated with her father’s inaction, finally resolves to communicate more openly with him—only to find out that her stepmother, Misty, is determined to start a new family, leaving little room for DeeDee’s efforts. With the support of a fiery friend and a benevolent grandmother, can DeeDee hold on to the tattered bond with her father? Or will Misty finally get her way, driving DeeDee to escape her situation by any means possible and abandoning her dad forever?
