The year is 1866, and seventeen-year-old Cinnamon Devereaux, a girl from a prominent New Orleans family, finds herself placed in a boarding school after the death of her father. Obsessed with discovering the truth behind her father's death, Cinnamon's first night at school is one that leads her to a path of danger and romance. When roguish Blade Cavanaugh enters her room by mistake and seduces her, he flees into the night, leaving Cinnamon with only one clue to his identity: the musical sound of his voice.
