Product Description
I lived in the middle of Siberia—not as a tourist, but as a foreign resident. I didn’t go there as part of any government or private program. I just went. I didn’t initially plan to live there; it all just worked out that way. Once there, I was simply immersed into Russian society rather suddenly. My survival depended largely upon my learning the language and culture of Russia, along with being able to find work. What I found there were people who have an insatiable appetite for knowledge of the West and who, in the past, had never been interested in a confrontation with America. During the Cold War, Russians were just as scared of America as Americans were of Russia.

Obviously, not all my experiences are recounted here, but mainly the ones that display the realization of living in Siberia and those that demonstrate the mentality and culture of the Russian people. Russians and Americans are very different from one another and yet, in some instances, quite the same.
