The cold black eyes of a small boy looked into the old man’s eyes. He didn’t know if he could trust him, but with a blizzard upon them, he had no choice. Settling behind him on the horse’s back, his small arms holding tightly around his waist, a sudden bond was formed. A bond that couldn’t be broken in life or in death.

Traveling with a boy who couldn’t or wouldn’t speak slowed the old outlaw down, but he couldn’t leave the boy—he had just seen his parents butchered by a band of cowards. You could see the look of fear and anger in his icy eyes.

Over time, the outlaw taught him how to shoot, something he later regretted, for the boy, even though small in stature with such tiny hands, suddenly became the fastest gun he’d ever seen.
