Product Description
The time is mid-eighteenth century. The American Revolution is underway and will last for eight years. The British, short of men, have employed over thirty thousand German soldiers, known as Hessians. Colonel (Baron) Wolfgang von Hesse is a Hessian officer attached to General Burgoyne’s staff. He participates in various key battles, culminating with the Battle of Yorktown where he is taken prisoner by the Continental Army.
Although a mercenary fighting for money, not a cause, his sentiments change as the war progresses. Many of the events depicted are true; characters Washington, Lafayette, Burgoyne, Cornwallis and others will be familiar to the reader.
Of Kings--Cabbages & Knaves, while a fiction tale, is an anecdote to American history that could have happened. This is not a history book, rather a tale meant to entertain the reader.
