Cricket, a Shetland sheep dog, and his family live on a large sheep farm in Crescent Valley. Cricket is an unusually bright, young sheep dog, but has a tendency to chase birds when he’s supposed to be herding sheep. This causes distress to his young master, Rich, because he fears his father will return Cricket to his original owner for a refund. Money is scarce in Crescent Valley because of a severe drought.
