The year is 634 A.D. Ch’ang An, the capital city of the Empire of China, is totally surrounded by Mongol warriors, with only the high city wall holding them back. Most of the Imperial army is away putting down a rebellion in the south. Days earlier, unaware the Mongols were so near, the Emperor went to pray at the temple. Now, someone must go and bring him back—but who? No man could get through that solid wall of Mongol soldiers. Then one small figure steps forward. What follows is an adventure filled with excitement and danger. It is a story of true friends facing death while racing time.
Ching, the Emperor’s Pekinese dog, goes on a dangerous mission to find the Emperor. Along the way, he meets Tai, a large Shar Pei fighting dog, and they become fast friends. Together, they face a tiger, a roaring river and Mongol soldiers.
