Arelis Cornfield works for the state orphanage, and three girls, ages one year, are leaving their safe house to be placed on the state’s adoption list. However, placing children has become very problematic for the state because qualified couples are going out of the country to adopt. Arelis felt attachment to these three girls the moment she laid eyes on them. She wanted to adopt these girls and be the best mother in the world to them. However, many obstacles confronted her, and she was only able to adopt one of the girls. As the child grew, so did her problems because the one Arelis adopted turned out to have mental problems that only got worse as the child grew older. Is the love Arelis has for this child strong enough to save them both from a path of destruction? Or will the detective in the shadows be able to save them both?
