"""Focus On Being Good—Great Comes Later:Short Stories, Poems & Prose by an Administrative Assistant"" is a book a ""long time coming."" It was in Professor Kelly Ellis' English class (Chicago State University) where my lightbulb came on and my writing skills were awakened. The story ""When Doc Calls"" was an inspiration by my Heavenly Father. I was given an in-class impromptu assignment while attending Kennedy-King Community College in my Theater/Communications class to create a fictional story and act it out at the same time. The story was born and took life at that very moment and has been included in several writing assignments.
The story ""Grand Daddy-God's Short Stop"" is a true story about Maurice C. Wiggins, Sr., one of the original baseball players in the Negro Baseball Leagues of the 1920's. He was my grandfather. ""A Chance To Love"" is a cliffhanger to be continued in my next book. I invite the readers to submit suggestions on how to end the story. Many of the poems and prose were inspired by my heavenly father, given to me early in the morning, during the course of my day or just during quiet moments. I hope the poems and prose will inspire the readers to remain hopeful, encouraged and strong in the Lord and in the power of HIS might. I have learned so much since beginning this project and as I learned and listened, I wrote. Thank you for your love of books and your willingness to continue to read for peace, knowledge, entertainment, wisdom, encouragement, and fun.
