Tucked away in a small town just north of Seattle, Washington, Dr. Jada Averia Martin stood in her mother's bedroom staring at a room that held no warmth for her. Memories started to flood her like a rushing river in a violent storm. She heard her mother's voice in her head and pushed her hair away from her face as she tried to push out the sound of a voice that kept calling out to her over and over. Jada couldn't get the pain of her mother's harshness out of her head so she clamped her hands tightly to the side of her face and over her ears and yet the voice was there. Then in a raging fit of anger she knocked everything off her mother's dresser to the floor. She knocked down pictures of both her parents, pulled the covers from the bed violently and ripped up every item of clothing from the closet that she was strong enough to rip. She shouted out, "YOU CAN'T HURT ME ANYMORE, I WON'T LET YOU MOM. I WON'T ALLOW YOU TO HURT ME EVER AGAIN."
