The French and Indian War was over. The British were undisputed masters of North America. The celebration would be brief, for as the victorious English consolidated western land won from the French, cries of war echoed from the Great Lakes to the old southwest. Untold stories—stories of courage and determination, come to life as mainly Scot-Irish and Germanic immigrants poured into the newly-opened southern frontier. Stories of legends grew at the same time as the promise of America was born. These men of legend prevailed against British laws and Indian wars as John Sevier, James Robertson, Richard Henderson, and Daniel Boone opened a vast wilderness to the Mississippi River. These frontier leaders, along with other famous southerners, would soon threaten English domination of North America.

This fast-paced story describes the passion of white and Indian families struggling to stay alive in the west after the French and Indian War while in the east colonists prepare for revolution. During this southwest upheaval, frontiersmen were forced to choose sides as they also traveled the road to revolution.
