Life just isn’t treating this ten-year-old boy very fairly. Being scrawny, red-headed, freckled-faced, and afraid of the unknown is a lot to overcome. Now he is faced with his newest challenge of being the “new kid” in school. His mother is much too busy with work and settling into their new home to be much support. Bogart is thrown into his new world without any new friends. His luck appears to finally be changing when he discovers an old journal. This journal consumes his thoughts. It is full of adventures that are fascinating to him. A new hero emerges from the journal. “Wishbone” seems to be everything Bogart always wanted to be, afraid of nothing and always on an adventure. Finally his life becomes interesting again. Along with the excitement of the journal, he meets two new friends, one of whom he shares many of his new life experiences and adventures with. The other is an animal whose life he saves and brings into his new home. There are still quite a few obstacles to overcome in his new life. The crabby old baby sitter and the bullies at school, along with the true mystery of the journal, are just the beginning. Bogart is beginning to think his new life in the town of Mainbone is exciting.
