I was born in New Jersey but I now reside at the edge of the Texas hill country. I have written poetry since first grade, and it was my poetic mother who taught me to be as concise as possible in my writing. In the past, most of my poetry has been freestyle, moderate in length. Recently, however, I have taken brevity to new levels by composing a great many poems in the form of haiku. Some of the verses follow the traditional form, with its seasonal context, while others are conceived in the more modern style. The beautiful countryside that I see from my front porch displays the wonders of God’s creation. The simplicity of life in this location and the changing moods of the natural environment inspire the special thumbnail sketches that characterize haiku.
