Product Description
Set in northern Minnesota during the Depression, The Battles of Joe Red Bird tells the story of Joe Red Bird: Native American, World War I Marine, and the best hunter in the county. It also tells the story of a rogue bear and the county that it is terrorizing by attacking farm animals.

Joe Red Bird is still haunted by his experiences in the trenches and battlefields of the First World War, and although he’s considered a hero by others, he feels that he has failed his warrior tradition. His hunting skills are legendary and help him to support his family. As the attacks by the bear become more vicious, fear grips the county and begins to tear it apart as they try to find and kill the bear. All their efforts are unsuccessful, and with no one else to turn to, the county asks Joe Red Bird to kill the bear.
