This book came into being in a roundabout way. While raising her family, Ruth Altman Broadbent was attracted to the then-popular jingle-writing contests. Her rhyming ability led her to become one of the country’s top winners with prizes ranging from a car, trips, furs, jewelry, and appliances to a Popeye tee-shirt. About thirty-five years ago, when sponsors began to replace skill contests with sweepstakes, she sought an outlet for her VERSEitility. And so this book was born, written little by little, in bits and pieces. It is a collection of light verses, containing anecdotes, experiences, thoughts and feelings. These rhymes were created with utmost gratitude and profound apologies to Ogden Nash.
