Product Description
I work on an army base in Colorado Springs, at a child development center. I have worked with preschool children there for 12 years. The book My Mommy is a Soldier is about the confusion and loneliness that a child may feel when a parent has to go on a tour of duty for an undetermined length of time. The child doesn’t understand why a parent has to go away, and he may listen to the news and talk around him and this can make the situation even scarier for him. This book addresses a female soldier leaving and the effects this may have on her child. It is written in a preschool type wording, based on my experience with the children in my care. I attempted to put their feelings, thoughts, and emotions in words and pictures that they can relate to and be comforted by.
