Gloria J. Nelson-Martinez was born in 1956 in Newark, New Jersey, where she resided for 43 years. In 2000 she met Leo Martinez and in 2001 they married and moved to Mooresville, North Carolina. Gloria has two daughters, Elizabeth Nelson and Brielle Davis, and both have been wonderful advocates for their Mother in writing this book. Owner and operator of her NJ-based business GJN Associates, Ms. Martinez sold her business in 2001 when she moved to NC. In HOA Management for 22 years, she is now working for a management company in NC. Ms. Martinez realized how important a guide would be for all planned communities, first-time buyers, Owners, and Boards of Directors—or just for anyone who is involved or has an interest in community living.
