The Battle of Culloden produced much more than a defeat of the Highland clans at the hands of English red-coated troops. It saw the end of a way of life that had existed for countless generations. Forced from their homes, tens of thousands of Highlanders found themselves caught in what history calls “The Highland Clearances.” They were transported aboard tall ships to the new world of the Americas, leaving behind the land that gave birth to their ancestors. In this strange land, they saw a dream, but if they were to achieve that dream, they would once again have to face their ancient enemy.
