Ali’s life has always been gutsy; she has known nothing but struggle. She can never remember happiness or a time of peace. Tragically, she has no real experience of happiness; she has never had anything to associate happiness with. Everyone in her life has failed her. Even the few people that she understood did care for her chose to leave her.

She never had a chance at life and when she realizes this, she begins to understand what happened to her. She realizes that she must do an extreme amount of hard work to change her life for the better. She is devastated when she has to give up everything, time and time again, just to help herself; and she must help herself all by herself.
