In January 1973, the Paris Peace Talks concluded with an agreement to end the war in Vietnam. The United States committed to withdraw all its remaining combat units within ninety days, finalizing the American exit from Vietnam.

As early as 1961, however, the US maintained a unique group of American “advisors” who operated in country. They lived and fought with local South Vietnamese Army units, directing artillery, air strikes, and the spraying of the deadly Agent Orange.

Lieutenant Frank Vernon witnessed both the horrors of the war surrounding the serene remote village he lived in, and the sensual love he shared with a young Vietnamese widow.

In perhaps a just twist of fate, Frank Vernon was diagnosed with cancer from his exposure to Agent Orange twenty years after the war, and has devoted most of the rest of his life to the lost and forgotten victims in Vietnam.
