Product Description
Discovering an abandoned antelope fawn during a freak spring storm in 1942, Ivan rescues the tiny “Buck” and convinces Mama to let him stay. Buck quickly learns were milk comes from, and squirms under Ivan’s arm and helps himself to breakfast straight from the cow. Buck chases the chickens, pesters the dog, and develops an unfortunate liking for Mama’s flowers. Everyone in town learns to keep a watchful out for Ivan and his troublesome antelope.
As Buck’s horns bud during his second summer, he retaliates against Mama and her garden club for all the times he’s been chased from area gardens with a broom. He scatters the women like he does the chickens and sheep, isolating one in the bunkhouse, another in the ice house and a third in the outhouse. Mama is furious, and orders that Buck be banished from the farm. Will Ivan ever see Buck again?
