Why did I write this book, The School Bus Driver? I don't think people fully understand the job a school bus driver does. We perform a service to children and schools. When I tell someone what I do for a living people always say, well, I wouldn't do that for any amount of money. My answer for that is, well, someone has to do it, so it might as well be me.

I have done many jobs in my lifetime. I have been a custodian and a deputy sheriff. I worked for the state of Vermont doing child support work and many other jobs. I have to say, being a school bus driver is my favorite job. I pick up the children in the morning and bring them home at night. Yes, you do have to put up with a lot of crap. People will complain about you. Sometimes I think some people have nothing better to do than to find things to complain about. People will be people. I drive a school bus and love it. Let some complain. Maybe the ones who complain should try my job, and then they will change their tune.
