Alan and Alice Cross moved to the village of Sharon Springs and settled down to what they thought would be a peaceful existence. Little did they know that upon the arrival of Adolf and Greta Heimien, a couple from Germany, plans to rebuild “The Spa” would enter their lives.

You will meet a cast of characters like Elizabeth Weber and Albert Bauer. One would become Adolf's lover and the other would die because he wouldn't do as Adolf asked. You will meet Mr. and Mrs. Swartz and Jack Butler, a hitchhiker, and how it was their misfortune to cross the path of Adolf.

After a hard and bitter life with Adolf, Greta happens to witness one of Adolf's crimes, and used this information as a ticket to get out from under his grip. Along her way she meets and falls in love with Hank Chappell, and they begin a life of happiness and contentment, but in her heart she knew it was not destined to last, not as long as her husband knew she was out there with a “loaded gun.”
