The Race for Life After Death is one of the most confounding stories of its time. The story enacts the lives of ten coed adolescents, who all happen to be friends in the same exact predicament and situation. They have all unknowingly signed their lives away in an attempt to race for them back. The only problem is that they don't know it yet. They find out when they come home from spring break to see each and every one of their obituary notices posted within their local newspaper. Their obituaries reveal how they died, but not when they died, and thus tend to leave out major life-altering details that are needed to stay alive longer within the race. They end up with encumbrances on their hands as the race begins. They find out what is going on and must now race for the chance to change it. But along the way the bodies of those killed never turn up or are present at the murder scene. The handful of survivors now have to race for a second chance at life that is not really guaranteed to be restored to them until they have completed the rules of the race.
