Amy was raised by her mother and father in California and Arizona. She had a normal and happy childhood, but in her late teens became disillusioned by men who seemed to more be interested in her body than her personality. So she began to seek out friendships with women instead and ended up choosing them as lesbian partners instead of having to deal with men. She was a lesbian for 16 years.

Her parents divorced after she graduated from High School, and her mother ended up marrying a man who truly was a good father to her, and was the first man she ever really admired as someone she could trust and look up to. It was then she gradually decided that she wanted to change her life-style into the woman she saw that she really wanted to be. That began her journey that this book is all about.

She is now a Nanny/Grandma/mother figure to a family in West Virginia where she is a very busy helping to raise the little guy in the picture who has brought much joy to her life since the day he was born into their family. She is also going back to college to get her degree in business. She is also working on her second book that ties into this one.
