In his golden years, James started writing about his adventures of growing up during the Depression in Rainbow Valley. His stories tell of his boyhood friendship with his brother Lee. The story tells of two boys living on a ranch with their mother and grandfather. Their only source of fun was with their dog Buck, their horses and their imagination in creating their own adventures in the valley. His plans are to continue working on the stories of growing up in Rainbow Valley and Fallbrook.

Adults as well as children will enjoy these stories. For the younger, it will be the adventures and for the adults it is an opportunity to relive their youth and enjoy the history of the ’30s.
