Priests are killing the heads of Mafia families. They discover information on a terrorist organization called the Corsican Clan that has established itself in the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church. The Clan has renewed an ancient blood feud with the Cosa Nostra.

Archbishop Centorii controls the Corsican Clan in the United States. He has the grandchildren of Don Gianerro kidnapped. A final battle to recover the kidnapped children brings Fr. Fitzgerald to a crisis of faith, and could result in death for him and Maguire.
