Joe describes some of his experiences in the church when his primary concern was “life hereafter.” He was a pastor, marriage counselor, community organizer, and prison chaplain featured in the book An Eye for an Eye. Years later he switched to focusing on “life here” by moving to Washington, D.C. He directed several non-profit national organizations supported by individual, foundation, congressional and federal donors. He organized new programs in ethnic community development, bioethics, sustainable energy and agriculture, and international satellite communications. He counts among his accomplishments the founding of government technical information services in sustainable energy for the Department of Energy and sustainable agriculture for the Department of Agriculture. He also secured a license for a low earth-orbiting satellite system for developing countries. In other international activities he developed a program for transferring used industrial equipment to third-world nations and formed an economic development foundation for Hungary.
