Product Description
Bruce MacDonald fancies himself a bonny Scottish Laird. He has married his childhood sweetheart. He and his wife, Janet, have two children - a daughter, Lee, who is eleven, and a son, Scott, who is eight. Bruce is a building contractor and a stubborn Scot with his own ideas of right and wrong. It is the summer of 1957 and life is good. His best friend Colin is about to marry Mary, Janet's sister, but Mary's ex-husband, Dan, shows up and attacks her, and it seems to set off a chain of events. Dan has re-married and his wife is found dead in Larson's swamp. Something is going on at the old Whitmore estate, which had been the scene of a shoot-out during the Prohibition years. Bruce sees a car from New York and asks the chief of police to check it out. Aunt Jessie, Bruce's beloved friend, is found dead from a fall from her barn roof. Bruce discovers the secrets of the Whitmore Mansion.
