The reason I got inspired to write and publish this book was my interest in poetry and Puerto Rican culture. As a result of doing research on Puerto Rican history, I got introduced to the origin of tobacco. I also learned that my last name TORRES, which translates as Towers in English, was the first European encounter with cigars. The cigar served as a conduit and panacea because it enhances my sense of well-being, and ability to write. Poetry and Cigars is a total experience that comes to us through the senses to give us a perception of life. Hence, what we experience in life is what we communicate, and sometimes we do share the same experience. This acknowledgement is what makes cigars and poetry mean something and relevant to the world around us.
