Being the youngest of six children, I learned early to try and stand out. I would make cards for my mother on special occasions. I wrote the last verse of the poem I was to read at my high school graduation the first day of my 9th grade year. I always loved words and how they could bring about emotions. I have written poems for lovers, family, and friends. When my mother passed away in 1999 writing my poems about the absolute devastation I was experiencing helped me stay sane. It is a way that I can convey more that just an “I love you.” It allows me to put emotions down on paper and bring about the feelings that I am trying to express. I hope all that read these poems come away with the feelings I was experiencing when I wrote them.
